Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urges lawmakers to pass infrastructure bill before shutdown.
The U.S. is long-overdue for improvements to our infrastructure. Some important improvements to would include a new electric grid and power structure, new passenger and freight rail systems, as well as fixes for roads and bridges. According to the Associated Press, the bill would expand the social safety net and attack climate change. Yellen also urged support for a $1 trillion bipartisan bill to address more traditional infrastructure, such as roads and bridges.
