Wichita couldn’t hire enough workers for its new water plan, so it’s outsourcing jobs
Wichita is grappling with staffing shortages for its new water treatment plant, leading the city to contract Operational Technical Services, a Los Angeles-based firm, according to The Wichita Eagle.
Currently, the cit needs five to six process control specialists, increasing project costs by $1.3 million, while the project is already $20 million over budget. The staffing challenge reflects a national shortage of water plant operators due to an aging workforce.
