U.S. Water Leaders Unite at ASU Water Summit to Solve the Western Water Crisis
Water experts from business, government and academia united at the Arizona State University Water Summit to save the West by bringing leaders with expertise together.
“The idea is to share what can be done to conserve water, to recycle water,” Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of multinational water utility company Veolia said.
Brachlianoff also gave the keynote address to the summit.
“There is no magic wand,” Brachlianoff said. “It’s a mix.”

In addition to discussing long-term water shortage concerns, they also discussed the growing semiconductor industry in Phoenix, which requires ultra-pure water and innovative management strategies, as well as concerns about “forever chemicals” used in water treatment.
Because, Brachlianoff said, it’s not enough for a city to conserve water, or a business to recycle the water it uses. They have to work together.
