Longtime solar executive Barry Cinnamon got up Wednesday wondering what a Donald Trump administration will mean for his company and the renewable energy industry in general. “I woke up this morning and walked to my car and took a picture of the sun coming up and it did indeed come up,” said Cinnamon, president of Cinnamon Solar, one of the highest-profile solar companies in Silicon Valley. The conventional thinking is that Trump’s victory will mean good news for oil and natural gas but bad news for renewable energy sources like solar and wind, which have been relentlessly promoted by the Obama administration through policy prescriptions that include generous federal tax credits.
