St. Peter to upgrade electric, water meters

St. Peter utility customers will see their water and electric meters switched out, giving them access to data that can show water leaks or power outages. The city, after nearly two years of a pilot project, will roll out advanced metering infrastructure. The system connects a building’s electric and water meters instantaneously over radio transmission with city offices. “The benefits for the city are that we can collect information in a more timely manner and process the data quickly,” Public Works Director Pete Moulton said. “For the customer, it can help control leaks and electric usage that may get out of whack.”
