As spring approaches, highway department looks to summer projects

As spring creeps into the Chippewa Valley, the county’s highway department is preparing for several summer construction projects, ranging from preliminary planning on the Cobban Bridge to paving projects in several municipalities. But as the snow begins to melt, Chippewa County Highway Commissioner Brian Kelley wants the community to remember to put down their phones while driving through construction zones. National Work Zone Awareness Week continues through April 13 nationwide, and Kelley said it’s an attempt to keep the public informed about their employees’ safety.
