Ship owner in Baltimore bridge collapse agrees to pay $102 million for cleanup
The owner and manager of the cargo ship Dali — Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and Synergy Marine Group — have agreed to pay $102 million to cover cleanup costs following the March collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. According to The Associated Press, the ship lost power due to a poorly maintained electric system, which caused it to veer off course and strike a support column. The collision killed six road crew workers, disrupted shipping traffic at the Port of Baltimore and required months of cleanup.
Maryland has also filed a separate suit against the companies, seeking additional damages for rebuilding the bridge, which could cost up to $2 billion.
