October has been known as National Energy Awareness Month ever since President George H.W. Bush declared it so in 1991. To celebrate, a national survey looked at the 100 largest cities in the United States to determine which ones had the “greenest” lifestyle. Seven of the top 10 cities are in California, and Sacramento is among them. With a score of 66.29, WalletHub ranked the capital city seventh overall on its list. Sacramento is fifth in California, trailing San Francisco, the survey’s top overall city at 74.24, San Diego, Fremont and San Jose. Also in the top 10 are Irvine and Oakland.
