Route 54 – Updates on Bridge Replacement Project in Derry Township of Montour County
According to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, This is a bridge replacement and resurfacing project on Route 54 in Derry and Valley townships. Work includes replacing the existing bridge over Stony Brook with a new concrete box culvert and minor roadway repairs near the bridge. Route 54 traffic will be maintained through the work zone by a two-lane temporary roadway and bridge. Traffic along Route 3010 (Steckermill Road) and T-384 (Hillside Road) will be temporarily detoured during construction. Hillside Road will be detoured using Hillside Road and Shed Road. Steckermill Road will be detoured using Steckermill Road, Route 3003 (Narehood Road), and Route 254.
This project includes the mill and resurface of 5.6 miles of Route 54 between Route 254 in Derry Township and Valley Road (Route 3008) in Valley Township and 0.6 mile of Route 54 between Valley Road and the Roadside Rest Area in Valley Township. Work includes milling and resurfacing the existing roadway, base repairs, and line painting. Traffic will be maintained using a single lane with flagging.
Work began in the fall of 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025. The construction cost for all projects combined is $5.4 million.
