Road commission’s 2018 budget increasing by $18 million compared to 2017

The Road Commission for Oakland is anticipating an increase in the amount of state and federal assistance it receives in 2018 compared to 2017. That increase is estimated at $17.8 million due primarily to the increase in state gas and diesel taxes and vehicle registration fees, which took effect in January. The proposed $146.9 million budget for 2018 represents about a 13.8 percent increase over 2017’s budget of $129.1 million.
