Pasadena Public Works Department Earns APWA Re-accreditation
The City of Pasadena’s Public Works Department has achieved reaccreditation from the American Public Works Association (APWA), reaffirming its commitment to excellence in infrastructure management. Initially accredited in March 2020, the department underwent a comprehensive year-long review process that included updating policies, reporting organizational changes, and demonstrating compliance with best practices outlined in the Public Works Management Practices Manual. Acting Director Kris Markarian emphasized that this reaccreditation underscores the department’s dedication to preserving and enhancing the city’s infrastructure and natural resources for the Pasadena community.
Pasadena’s Public Works Department stands out as the 20th agency in California and the 130th across North America to achieve this prestigious accreditation among over 35,000 public works agencies. Following reaccreditation, Pasadena’s operational model was included in the APWA’s Accreditation Community Library, providing a valuable resource for other agencies seeking to enhance their own practices. This achievement highlights Pasadena’s proactive approach to infrastructure management and serves as a benchmark for municipalities aiming for similar standards of excellence.
