Over 17,000 New York bridges need repairs, hundreds are structurally deficient, report says
A new report from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association reveals that over 17,000 bridges in New York state require repairs, with about 10% of them classified as deficient. According to CBS News, New York ranks 11th in the nation for deteriorating bridges.
Although New York has made historic investments, such as $2 billion toward bridge modernization, weather, traffic and aging infrastructure complicate repair efforts. Despite public frustration, officials assure residents that the bridges remain safe and are rigorously monitored.
