New nuclear clean energy agreement with Kairos Power
Google has signed a corporate agreement to purchase nuclear energy from multiple small modular reactors (SMRs) to be developed by Kairos Power.
According to Google’s blog, the agreement aims to bring the first SMR online by 2030, contributing up to 500 MW of power to U.S. electricity grids. The partnership may stimulate job creation, with the U.S. Department of Energy projecting the need for 375,000 additional workers to achieve 200 GW of advanced nuclear capacity by 2050.
