Missouri Testing Asphalt Made of Single-Use Plastic
According to a Forbes Article, Engineers at the University of Missouri are working with the state Department of Transportation to test a plastic-asphalt mixture for use on roads and bridges in the United States.
Researchers found that because plastic is made to last for hundreds of years, it can be a good substitute for typical asphalt mixtures. Now, the mixture is being tested on a two-mile section of road in Columbia, Missouri where traffic averages about 36,000 cars a day. It will be tested for at least a year before moving forward.
