Michigan Plans First US Wireless charging Road for Electric Vehicles
As electric vehicles advance, charging infrastructure is now a priority for Michigan.
According to Crains Detroit Business, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has started to create the nation’s first segment of road that will charge electric vehicles while they’re driving. According to a news release, the Office of Future Mobility and Michigan’s Department of Transportation collaborated to develop a 1-mile stretch of state roadway in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties that would allow public transportation and private vehicles to use wireless charging infrastructure while traveling as a part of the Inductive Vehicle Charging Pilot.
