MAPS could finance an accelerated street resurfacing effort, Oklahoma City Public Works director says

An estimated 420 miles of streets could be resurfaced if Oklahoma City voters agree to extend the MAPS sales tax later this year, Public Works Director Eric Wenger said Tuesday. Wenger gave the city council a picture of how Mayor Mick Cornett’s proposal for a “MAPS for streets” capital improvements sales tax extension could be implemented. The bottom line for motorists frustrated by lack of attention to city streets is that a three-quarter cent sales tax could be put to work almost immediately on resurfacing projects.
