Houston to soon contact some residents regarding federal lead pipe mandate

In the upcoming weeks, the City of Houston will reach out to residents whose homes may be at risk of having lead pipes, according to Houston Public Media. 

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated $7.5 million for removing lead hazards in Houston homes as part of a nationwide effort to enhance drinking water quality — further supported by $2.6 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law designated for lead pipe replacements and upgrades.
