House committee looking at changing outdated, underfunded Local Government Fund

The state Legislature is looking at changing the way it funds local governments, but it could mean that larger counties get a smaller piece of the pie. “We’ve had this funding formula in place for a while and since the recession it’s become something that’s not remotely realistic,” said state Rep. Leon Stavrinakis, D-Charleston, chairman of a committee appointed by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Brian White, R-Anderson.
