Gulf Breeze approves $17.6 million to expand wastewater treatment plant

Anticipating a future need, the Gulf Breeze City Council on Monday approved $17.6 million for four major projects to expand its wastewater treatment plant. The City Council unanimously voted in favor of a recommendation made by the South Santa Rosa Utility System Board in February to upgrade facilities at its Tiger Point property, which must be operational by 2021.The SSRUS is an enterprise arm of the city. “The basics of it is for handling, especially sewer water. It’s our responsibility to make sure that we provide the service as the population increases,” said City Councilman Tom Naile, president of the SSRUS board.
