Possible fuel tax would help pave roads

Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is facing many issues with state highways and bridges needing repairs. “Certainly safety is our number one responsibility of the Mississippi Department of Transportation. We want to be able to build and maintain a safe highway system. And the one we have out there now isn’t safe,” says MDOT Commissioner Dick Hall. MDOT maintains 30,000 highway miles and about 11,000 of those miles need to be fixed. There’s just one problem, it doesn’t have the money to fix them.
