Memphis-based FedEx Corp. received a multibillion-dollar contract from the Department of Defense (DoD). The five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, fixed-price, next generation delivery service contract was estimated at nearly $2.4 billion. The contract is via the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), which is one of nine commands under the DoD Unified Command Plan. In a DoD release, the contract stated it “provides express small package delivery services for international shipments and express ground small package delivery services for domestic shipments. Service shall be provided for the federal government, contractors who have a cost-reimbursable contract line item number under another government contract, which includes transportation of small packages, and other authorized users.
