Gallatin County Commissioners on Tuesday approved expanding a special tax district that primarily serves commercial businesses to add neighboring homes to generate more money for road maintenance. Commissioners voted 2-1 to include Garden Center subdivision on Jackrabbit Lane, with Commissioner Steve White voting against. Special tax districts collect money from property owners and sets it aside for road and infrastructure maintenance. The boundaries for the district were from Jackrabbit Lane to Quail Run Road, and from North Star Lane to Ice Center Lane. The expansion would stretch the district from about Jackrabbit Lane to Zoot Enterprises Lane and from about Lodge Pole Lane to Quail Run Road.
