CAT charges ahead with electric buses
Chatham Area Transit is adding electric buses to its fleet. The U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday announced a $1.5 million grant for electric buses and chargers for Chatham Area Transit through its Low- or No-Emission (Low-No) Grant program. CAT’s grant was one of $84.45 million in grant selections funding the deployment of transit buses and infrastructure that use electric or hybrid technologies. Fifty-two projects in 41 states will receive a share of the funding. CAT’s was the only project funded in Georgia.
