Buttigieg Urges Port Operators to Negotiate With Unions

Amidst a looming contract expiration, top Biden administration officials, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su, met with port operators to encourage negotiations with the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA). The administration’s proactive approach aims to foster collaboration between port operators and unions to ensure continued efficiency and stability in U.S. maritime operations.
