Big Changes Coming With I-95 Crossing Project

The unveiling of proposed designs for the Rappahannock River Crossing project drew a sizeable and interested crowd Wednesday evening at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House & Conference Center in Central Park. “In theory, I think it’s gonna work,” Spotsylvania County resident Linda Perryman said of the project that will add southbound collector–distributor lanes parallel to Interstate 95 between U.S. 17 in Stafford County and State Route 3 in Fredericksburg. “It’s giving you another option.” She was one of 128 people who came to see the designs and talk to Virginia Department of Transportation officials about the plans for the $125 million project, which is being paid for through the state’s Smart Scale program.
