Biden, Department of Energy Announce $14 Million To Increase Battery Recycling in U.S.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, $14 million would be used to increase consumer battery recycling and improve the supply chain.

According to Waste 360, the announcement comes this week and is supported by the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and managed by DOE’s Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains Office. Chosen projects will provide over 1,000 collection points throughout the U.S. to collect used batteries from consumer products, enabling easy and free access to battery recycling and helping to reduce e-waste.

“Did you know that President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is helping consumers play a pivotal role in our national security?” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm.
