Baltimore-area Public Works officials submit reports on lead water pipes to federal government
Baltimore-area Public Works officials just submitted reports to the federal government about potential lead in water pipes. Last month was the national deadline for all water utilities to submit their initial inventories. Baltimore City and Baltimore County have roughly 335,000 water pipes made of unknown materials that need to be checked for lead, 11 News Investigates has learned. That means water utilities have their work cut out for them. The Environmental Protection Agency states no amount of lead is safe in drinking water.
