AWWA Urges U.S. EPA to Base PFAS Regulation on Sound Science
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has come out in support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to move forward on regulations to protect drinking water from chemical contamination.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are particles that come from industrial production and are found in thousands of everyday items, and can be detected in water sources around the country.
In its comment, AWWA urges the EPA to take advantage of the best available science, and suggests that state and federal statutory authorities have not done enough to effectively address the PFAS contamination issue.
