ASCE recognizes top three 2024 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award projects
The American Society of Civil Engineers has recently awarded the 2024 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award to the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement in Los Angeles. According to the ASCE, this $588 million project replaces a historic bridge from 1932 that suffered from deterioration and seismic deficiencies. The new structure features ten LED-lit arches and is designed to meet modern seismic standards while enhancing aesthetics and safety. Other notable projects recognized include Sacramento’s EchoWater Project — a significant upgrade to wastewater treatment capabilities, and the Hale Kalele — a 20-story affordable housing towner in Honolulu that utilizes innovative construction techniques for faster build times and sound isolation.
