A look into the current state of EV charging infrastructure in the U.S.
EV infrastructure continues to be a major focus within the U.S. automotive industry, as both federal programs and automakers aim to address barriers to EV adoption. According to Alvarez and Marsal, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s $7.5 billion allocation for EV infrastructure, including the NEVI plan, targets 500,000 charging ports nationwide by 2030 to combat “range anxiety.” Despite recent funding and initiatives, the U.S. Department of Energy reports there are only around 79,000 active public chargers.
