2022’s States with the Best Taxpayer ROI Based on Infrastructure

WalletHub recently released a study of the best and worst states when it comes to return on taxpayer investment. The study is based on five categories for each state: education, health, safety, economy, and most notably for our purposes, infrastructure and pollution.

The study listed the following states with the best roads and bridges:

  1. Tennessee
  2. Georgia
  3. Nevada
  4. Alabama
  5. Wyoming

For the best water quality, the top states placed first in a 7-way tie:

  • California
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Iowa
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Utah
